What Causes IBD?

Researchers do not know what causes ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease, but most believe that the disease involves many separate but interrelating factors. An example: Someone who is genetically predisposed to IBD may have been exposed to a triggering event such as an infection or environmental toxin.
