Should I Stop HRT?
Posted by William on November 22, 2011
Q.I will complete five years of being on HRT in the year 2000. I am 59 years old and happy enough to continue with regular menstrual cycles as of now. However, my gynecologist says I must stop the use of HRT on completion of five years. What’s the reasoning for this? Are there other views on this matter?

A.Your gynecologist is certainly in the minority!
In fact, for continued protection from such problems as cardiovascular disease, it must be continued.
Once HRT is stopped, you begins to lose bone again, cholesterol levels may begin to rise, and the blood vessels become less elastic.
